Search Engine Marketing Specialist


The Search Engine Marketing Specialist (SEM Specialist) will lead all agency PPC search marketing efforts, including strategy, keyword research, planning, structure, ad writing, execution, testing, analysis, reporting, etc. The SEM Specialist will possess excellent written communication skills, a creative solutions approach, and a hyper-focused internal drive toward continuous improvement to reach client goals and deliver results.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Work with Associate MarTech Director in developing effective paid search strategies
  • Launch and optimize various PPC campaigns
  • Oversee accounts on search platforms (Google AdWords, Bing)
  • Work with Content Marketing Manager in keyword development and audience targeting and optimizing
  • Monitor budget and adjust bids to gain better ROI
  • Track KPIs to assess performance and pinpoint issues
  • Produce external and internal campaign analytical reports
  • Write creative and effective copy for ads
  • Continuously test new and creative efforts
  • Experience with programmatic advertising tools or scripts
  • Maintain partnerships with PPC ad platforms and vendors
  • Find ways to reduce risk of click fraud
  • Keep abreast of PPC and SEM and SEO trends
  • Ensure that all marketing pixels and other tracking technology is implemented correctly across all client websites
  • Create omni-channel Digital Marketing reports for clients, lead internal reporting meetings, and conduct other tasks around data analysis
  • Make regular SEO optimization improvements (Meta Descriptions, Title Tags, etc.) to all client websites, make other SEO strategic recommendations
  • Conduct website audits in order to provide SEO, SEM, and other Digital Marketing recommendations


  • 3 years advanced Search Advertising experience, concentration in AdWords and Bing Ads
  • Proven process, results and growth for campaigns totaling $50k or more in monthly spend
  • Experience with large brands, risk management and third party optimization/reporting tools
  • Scripts usage and other automation knowledge, experience and skills
  • AdWords Certified, Search Advertising certification highly preferred
  • Google Analytics expertise – certification strongly preferred
  • Proven understanding of search/SEO (non-paid) and its relation to paid search efforts
  • Reporting and data analysis, continuous improvement focus – data informed decision-making
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well and communicate with professional staff and clients at all levels in the organization
