May is National Beef and BBQ Month and we meat heads at Midan couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the cornerstone of our industry: meat.

If you haven’t noticed by now, Midan is a passionate bunch about meat. We’re only half-joking when we say we eat, breathe and sleep animal protein. Team members come to work every day excited to educate others about meat and all its delicious possibilities. Whether it’s a B2B or B2C target, it’s our job to help our clients sell more meat. The company “why” that we live by is “Champions for the Value of Meat.”

So this month, in light of who we are and what we do, I wanted to reflect on what it means to be a champion for meat.

I started at Midan as a Social Media Coordinator a little over a year ago. Since cooking was my first love, I immediately immersed myself in the meat-centric Midan culture. Being the millennial that I am, once my interest in meat took off, I wanted to try something I had never done before: smoke a brisket with the best person I know, my Uncle Jerry, a true South Carolinian with BBQ sauce running through his veins. So last Christmas my uncle and I smoked our first brisket and it was a hit!  For my uncle, our cooking experience made him nostalgic; past relationships that were glued together by hunting and BBQ sauce were coming to the surface. He admitted, “This is the most fun I have had in a while.” And that was the greatest gift I could have gotten. Smoking meat is now a new family tradition for holidays.

I soon learned that every Midan team member brings a unique appreciation for meat to the table. Mandy Brown, a Project Manager, ran for Hot Dog Ambassador of the Southeast for the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council. Sadly, she didn’t win, but she’ll always be #HotDogMandy to us, thanks to her endless enthusiasm for hot dogs. Jessee Leili-Jones, Associate MarTech Director, constantly inspires me to expand my chef knowledge and try new things like meatloaf filled with pimento cheese. (You should definitely try it!) Jamie Schatz, our Associate Creative Director, could tell you all about Kansas City rub and Jessica Glover, a Junior Account Executive, is partial to brisket due to her Texas roots.

All of my team members have mad love for meat. It’s obvious that at Midan, we don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk. Our unique personal connection to meat enables us to better tell meat’s story.

While the team brings a diverse range of specialties like digital media, strategy and research to our marketing services, we are united across the board in our passion for and dedication to meat. Meat marketing is what we do, but meat lovers are who we are.

So in May, we celebrate National Beef and BBQ Month, but we are champions for meat all year long.
